Birmingham Bowl botches USF's name on official merchandise
University of South Florida fooball fans took to social media Tuesday when the Birmingham Bowl officials botched their name on official bowl gear.
The Birmingham Bowl made the glaring mistake when its official online merchandise store featured a t-shirt with a gold Bulls helmet above the words “South Florida University.”
The bowl posted a response to Twitter saying it was aware of the mistake and will fix it.
USF played in this exact bowl game last season – and in 2006 when it was called the PapaJohns.com Bowl – beating South Carolina, 46-39, in overtime.
The Bulls take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Dec. 23 in the Birmingham Bowl at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama.
We have recently been made aware that there is a graphic misrepresentation of a T-shirt on the Birmingham Bowl Merch Site. Please rest assured that the T-shirt had not been produced, and the image is now being corrected. Trying to imagine the designer: "Hmm... U.S.F must be short for South Florida University".— RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) December 5, 2017
That's what they get for not actually being in South Florida.— Raysito (@RayMichaelKane) December 5, 2017
In the designer's defense, OU is University of Oklahoma and CU is University of Colorado, so it isn't always so simple. But, there is a thing called Google.— Michael Abromowitz (@FootballExpert) December 5, 2017
