Could one of television’s most popular series – which just happens to be filmed in Georgia – be getting ready to kill off another one of its original characters?

Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl Grimes on AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” recently tweeted he has been accepted at Auburn University, prompting massive social media speculation about his character's future:

Riggs’ father also posted an item on Facebook regarding the fact his son recently completed his seven-year contract with AMC:

Since its premiere in 2010, “The Walking Dead” has consistently been one of TV’s top-rated shows, and has since become a cultural phenomenon. The show is filmed in Senoia, and has helped Georgia solidify its place as a film and entertainment powerhouse that generated more than $7 billion for the state's economy in 2016.

Season six's finale saw the introduction of Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who was seen bludgeoning one of the series’ characters to death with his barbed wire-covered bat. After months of massive social media speculation, season seven's premiere revealed the victims to be Abraham (played by Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yuen).

Yuen, like Riggs, has been with the series since season one.
