There were tears as Air Force Capt. Adam Brown reunited with his daughter Alexis.

U.S. Air Force Capt. Adam Brown missed a lot over the last nine months. While serving in Iraq, he missed his son’s birthday and football season. He missed his daughter’s swim season. He missed their hugs the most.

“It feels amazing,” said Brown about being back.

Brown returned from deployment in Iraq Friday. He had a pair of surprises planned. He made a stop at Andrew’s elementary school first and surprised his son just after lunch.

“He totally got me,” said Andrew Brown, 11. “It’s been a long time, so it feels good.”

After a long hug, the two checked out of school and made the short walk next door for the second surprise of the day.

“Daddy!” shouted Alexis Brown, 12, as she saw her dad walk through the classroom door.

Andrew and Alexis are used to the military life. They have lived in six states and attended five different schools in 11 years. Their mother, Abby Brown, also served in the Air Force from 2003 to 2014.

The Browns plans to enjoy spending time together this weekend. Brown still has six years of service to complete. He hopes this latest deployment will be his last.

“Even though it was just a moment, that moment is the best one you’ll feel in a long time,” said Brown.
