Officers Eric Wedin and Bonnie Buckelew are both police officers living in their dream home in Myakka City. They started a roof renovation themselves right before hurricane Irma came, when they were deployed to protect and serve their community during the hurricane and could not finish their roof. Bonnie spent 4 days away from her home rescuing those in need and serving in a shelter that was quickly becoming flooded. Officer Wedin wrote to GAF (pronounced G-A-F), America's largest roofing manufacturer, and received a phone call back from the company's president who donated a new roof. Local roofing contractor Roofing by Curry installed their new roof, and GAF donated all of the material as a thank you to Officers Wedin and Buckelew for protecting the community.
