It's hard to imagine staying cool at the beach in the middle of summer. How about 72 degrees, and skipping the sunscreen?

The Beach Tampa opened Friday and runs until Aug. 25 at Amalie Arena.

Many say the best part of the exhibit is that it's free. The exhibit is 1.2 million antimicrobial balls that a create a white “beach” setting that people "swim in."

It was created by New York design firm Snarkitecture, and is set up in a space the size of the ice rink.

Kevin Preast, senior supervisor of event management, says, "This event is a down payment to the community and it makes Amalie Arena a true cultural center."
