CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Clearwater Police Department is honoring a Good Samaritan for going above and beyond Thursday afternoon.
According to police, the woman stopped and asked a deputy if they needed help while performing a DUI investigation.
The deputy had pulled over a woman with her two children and the mother was suspected of driving under the influence.
The woman, now known as Megan Andrews, stopped to help calm the children while deputies finished performing the investigation. Andrews even drove home to get toys, snacks, and drinks to occupy the children while their grandmother was on the way to pick them up.
Megan could have just driven on by the scene like most others would do," said Chief Slaughter. "But she saw a need and chose to get involved and help. She epitomizes what the Samaritan Award is all about - people who go above and beyond to help others."
