A group of graduating seniors chose to go Guatemala to help the poor for their senior trip, rather than spending the time and money on having just fun.
Five seniors from Winter Haven Christian School spent a week building houses, serving food, handing out water filters and just brightening the day of about 750 poor children.
“We gave meals that were probably the only meal for the week," says student Rachel Smith.
Another student, Meagan Walters, said, “This trip helped me to be more appreciative of what I have, and not take it for granted.”
Each student raised $1,200 for the trip, saying this experience has changed their lives.
Jeannette Williams, the principal of the school and their teacher, said, “I told them I would take them on a trip before I would take any adults because they are that good.”
