Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal road rage shooting in Brandon on Friday evening.
Deputies were called about 6:30 p.m. to the area of Bloomingdale Avenue and Kings Road for reports of a shooting.
The two vehicles were stopped in traffic when the individual that is now deceased got out of his vehicle and walked back to the shooters vehicle. Words were exchanged and shots were fired. The victim was shot at least once and was transported to the hospital where he later died. The shooter pulled off the roadway, called police, and waited for them to arrive.
The shooter is being cooperative and has not been arrested.
According to witnesses, both men had guns. Deputies have not stated whether or not the victim ever fired a shot.
Witnesses also say that they had to pull the victim out of the driver's seat and onto the road trying to save him. They say he was shot in the side. Police have not yet confirmed this information.
Bloomingdale Avenue near South Kings Avenue is closed during the investigation.
