CLEARWATER, Fla. -- "Nobody steals a kid's lunch money."

Clearwater Police Department posted this line from officer Chris Ziermann on its Facebook Tuesday morning after an incident where a Skycrest Elementary student had his lunch money stolen.

According to police, the 10-year-old student was walking to school Monday and counting his lunch money when a teen grabbed his money and ran away.

"The student was touched by the gesture and thanked for their generosity," according to CPD.

The school resource officer identified the money thief in through further investigation at Clearwater High School. A 16-year-old was charged and sent to a juvenile detention center after attempting to break into a car while deputies were looking for him.
