TAMPA -- A man who tried to rob a pawn shop was fatally shot by the owner Thursday, Tampa police said.
The shooting happened about 1:50 p.m at City Pawn shop at 3901 E. Hillsborough Ave.
The pawn shop's owner says a car pulled up in from of the store, and its driver got out and left the engine running.
He said Eric Jerome Norton, 20, jumped over the counter and pointed two guns at him. The owner opened fire, killing him.
The owner is cooperating with investigators and has not been charged, police said.
