TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. -- A driver was traveling the wrong way down US 19 when it crashed into an oncoming car, which tried to veer out of the way around 3:45 AM on Oct. 9, 2016.
The driver continued to travel without stopping, alerting a deputy who happened to be in the area to chase after the driver. The driver continued to move towards oncoming traffic until the deputy used his car physically stop the hit-and-run driver.
The vehicle that the wrong-way driver smashed into only had minor damage and both passengers had no reported injuries.
The wrong-way driver, now identified as 43-year-old Anna Marie Sosa, was arrested for DUI around 4:13 AM, according to the Tarpon Springs Police Department. She had additional charges for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and four traffic citations for the crash.
