It’s our favorite part of the week!
Friday leads us into the weekend, but it’s also when we showcase our 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida. This week we spent time on the campus of Quail Hollow Elementary in Pasco County.
The pride of the quails is the family-like atmosphere at the school. Both staff and students play important roles in supporting one another and also keeping everyone physically and emotionally safe. Safety is big. Schools focus on how to keep their community physically safe, but here a lot of time is spent on how to keep everyone emotionally safe.
This includes deterring bullying, offering support, being kind and thinking of the heart. Administrators find when students feel safe, their academic success follows.
Students are encouraged to fail forward and take academic risks, operate as a community of learners helping one another and to build character.
Everyone, no matter what their role is at Quail Hollow, is fully committed to these ideas. They know that each one of them can make an impact on a kid’s life forever.
The support and belief doesn’t just take place within the school walls. It’s supported by the families and other community members. No matter the event or activity you will find volunteers making it happen.
From kickball tournaments to ice cream socials to a twice-weekly morning mile club you will find family members assisting or attending in support. With all the support from the staff, the families and the community it’s easy to see why of Quail Hollow Elementary is our 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida.
