As Hurricane Matthew nears the coast of Florida, several flights have been canceled out of Tampa International Airport.
Airlines canceled about 1,600 flights by Wednesday evening because of the Category 3 storm, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.com, including 1,070 on Thursday and 400 on Friday. That number is expected to rise.
Schools and state offices near the Tampa area have also canceled classes and workdays.
