A group of VIPs took a trip to St. Pete-Clearwater Airport today.
Very Important Puppies.
Puppies who may one day grow into guide dogs for the vision-impaired or service dogs for veterans went to the airport as part of the training regimen for Southeastern Guide Dogs.
The puppy raisers, all volunteers, take in 10-week-old puppies and raise them for about a year, giving them basic obedience training and getting them ready for their advanced training. The preparation includes taking the growing dogs into social situations, like work, airports and malls, so they will be used to being in public.
Southeastern Guide Dogs provides the trained canines to those who need them free of charge.
