Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Petersburg Police Department will have its annual National Night Out event on Tuesday evening.

National Night Out is an opportunity to promote police-community partnerships and raise crime prevention awareness. It is perfect for families and will include many activities for kids.

Clearwater Police will hold their's at the Super Target at Clearwater Mall and St. Pete police will hold theirs in the Target parking lot at 8151 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N. The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m.

Tampa will host theirs at MacFarlane Park, located at 1700 North Macdill Avenue from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Activities vary from each event, but K9, SWAT, the mounted unit, the hostage negotiating team, emergency response team and forensics will be among those participating.

Free food and beverages will also be handed out by several local restaurants.

National Night Out is held in most locations across the United States on the first Tuesday of August, but the Florida police opts for the first Tuesday in October in hopes of slightly cooler weather.

Clearwater Mall is located at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. The address for the Super Target is 2747 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd.
