For tonight's trick-or-treating festivities, bay area families should be aware of where registered sex offenders are living.

Florida has a sex offender and predator registry that parents can search. A radius of up to five miles can be picked when entering the zip code of the potential trick-or-treating spots.

Tampa Police Department will step up its visual presence throughout the city tonight. They will "attempt to contact" sexual predators and offenders to "ensure that they are not participating in giving out candy or enticing children to their residence," according to its news release.

According to TPD there are 247 sexual predators and offenders on a list for crimes against children.
