PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies arrested a St. Petersburg driver and his passenger following a traffic crash on U.S. Highway 19 in Palm Harbor on Saturday.
According to Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the driver, Anthony Lockinour, 23, is alleged to have been under the influence at the time of the crash. When deputies searched Lockinour's car, they found a gun, crack cocaine and packets of spice.
Shortly before 7:44 p.m. Saturday, a PCSO deputy observed Lockinour driving erratically on US-19 just before Tampa Road. The deputy attempted to pull Lockinour over, but he continued driving southbound and no pursuit was engaged.
Lockinour, weaving in and out of traffic, crashed "several seconds later" into the rear of pick-up truck driven by Terry Johnson, 50, of Largo, according to the report. He continued driving after the crash until his Ford Mustang was disabled due to damage.
Johnson and his passenger, Valeri Frederick, 51, suffered minor injuries. Frederick was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital and Johnson, who had initially refused treatment, drove himself to the hospital.
Deputies were able to detain Lockinour and his passenger, Kyle Smith, 20, shortly after the crash. When deputies searched the vehicle, they found a stolen handgun, crack and the spice. Smith, a convicted felon, was charged with possession of the firearm and arrested alongside Lockinour.
Lockinour faces a host of charges stemming from this incident including: driving under the influence with injury, habitual driving with a suspended/revoked license, reckless driving with property damage and injury, fleeing and eluding, possession of a controlled substance, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with an unassigned tag and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury.
