6 students hurt in school bus, semi-truck crash in Hernando County

Several students are reported hurt in a crash involving a school bus and semi-truck Wednesday, April 18, at Cortez Boulevard and Interstate 75.

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- Six students were hurt when a semi-truck ran a red light and crashed into their school bus.

The crash happened around 6:18 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Cortez Boulevard and Interstate 75. Eighteen children were on the bus heading to Hernando High School, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Just after impact, the bus overturned on Cortez Boulevard.

The six reported injuries aren't considered serious.

"If there are any injuries, they are very, very minor," Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis said on Facebook.
