AVON PARK, Fla. -- A suspicious package that prompted the evacuation of a church and apartments turned out to a someone's craft.

Deputies and the fire marshal bomb squad were called to investigate the item, which later was found to be a homemade speaker made out of a large aluminum "Bubba Keg," according to the Highlands County Sheriff's Office.

The keg itself retails for around $13 on Amazon.

It was found around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, near Avon Park Christian Church on Camphor Street near U.S. 27, deputies say.

Church members left the building and apartments nearby were evacuated by deputies. The entire block was cordoned off.

The bomb squad investigated the item to determine if it posed any threat.
