Seffner, Florida -- A 19-year-old man has been charged with the shooting death of a Seffner woman on Tuesday.

Uthman Jalabi Jalabi is charged with first-degree murder, armed kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He is being held in the Hillsborough County Jail.

About 1:14 p.m. Tuesday, Hillsborough County deputies and Fire Rescue were called to a residence in the 12000 block of Park Avenue in Seffner. They found Destiny Mayes, who was pronounced dead at Brandon Regional Hospital.

Witnesses said a man known as "Q", later identified as Jalabi, told everyone to get out of the residence for 30 minutes, according to the sheriff's office.

Jalabi was seen fleeing the residence in his brown Ford Crown Victoria and was found near Woodberry and Falkenburg roads.

His vehicle had blood on the driver's door handle and he admitted throwing a gun in the wooded area near his vehicle. The .38-caliber gun was recovered and had only one spent casing in the cylinder.

Jalabi told detectives that he had slapped Mayes, preventing her from leaving the residence and admitted to being in possession of the firearm as well as attempting to get rid of the firearm.
