Tampa police identify suspect, person of interest in deadly crash that killed 80-year-old man

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa police are looking for two people believed connected to a deadly hit-and-run during the weekend.

Tracy Wood, 31, and Miriam Marti-Benning, 43, are suspected of hitting and killing Felix De la Uz on Saturday, March 17, according to a Tampa Police Department News release.

Wood is identified as the driver and is known to frequent the Seffner and Town and County areas. He has an active warrant for hit and run involving death.

Marti-Benning is considered a person of interest. Police say she was the Wood's passenger.

De la Uz, an 80-year-old man, was found dead in the area of West Hillsborough and Lois avenues. Witnesses told police they saw a white Honda Civic leave the road, hit a sign and crash into De la Uz.

They say they saw De la Uz push his wife out of the way of the car, saving her at the cost of his own life.
