St. Petersburg, FL (October 10, 2016) – The Veterans Health Network, Congressman David Jolly, Congressman Gus Bilirakus, Representative Larry Ahern, volunteers and Jim Wilson from Veterans Health Network will gather Monday, October 10, 2016, at 1 p.m. to show support and help upgrade and repair an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) at Bay Pines Manor, 10591 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Pete. Volunteers from Lowes will be painting, repairing and upgrading three cabins and the main house of the facility preparing it for 14 resident veterans from the Bay Pines VA.
"I want to thank the public officials for all of their support and Lowes for their contributions and helping us with this project. It is because of their passion for our veterans and for our area we are able to help make this a reality," said Veterans Health Network president Jim Wilson.
This is the beginning of several projects the Veterans Health Network is working on with the county. They plan on opening a 120 bed facility to house veterans who need assistance due to injuries from war. They also will have another facility to help transition those from active service into the community. They will house, feed, train, find jobs and get permanent housing for our veterans. The facility is expected to transition about 350 at a time.
A fundraiser will take place later this month to help raise money for these projects. The public is invited to attend a benefit concert by critically acclaimed pianist Christopher Johnson, who will present a program featuring Horowitz/Souza's "Stars and Stripes Forever" and other great American and patriotic pieces.
The concert will take place on October 22, 2016, at the Music Gallery of Clearwater, 5900 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets start at a donation of $100 for general admission. VIP seating and private dinner are $250. Exclusive VIP seating, private dinner and meet and greet are $1200 for two people. Contributions are tax deductible.
