BRADENTON, Fla. – The Bradenton Police Department is investigating a house shooting, in which a 12-year-old and a 19-year-old were shot.
Police said the shooter, Joshua Rapolla, 36, is the victims' stepfather.
Police said Rapolla and the 19-year-old, identified as Rufus Adams, were arguing at a home in the 1900 block of 6th Avenue E., and Adams got a firearm. Rapolla then got a gun, and the argument escalated. Rapolla fired.
The 12-year-old was shot accidentally as Rapolla fired at Adams, police said.
Adams was hit in the head and upper body and is in critical condition at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
The 12-year-old was hit in the hip and is in stable condition at Johns Hopkins All-Childrens Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators from the Manatee County Homicide Investigation Unit are currently assisting in this case.
