LARGO, Fla. -- Someone pulled a driver over in Largo early Wednesday morning. The problem, say police -- it wasn't a real cop.

It happened at around 4 a.m. near Clearwater-Largo Road and New Jersey Street. The driver who was pulled over told police a car with tinted windows and flashing red and blue lights came up from behind.

After they stopped, a guy with 'police' on his hat and a flashlight got out of that car and asked for the driver's Florida license. That's when driver sensed something was wrong and took off.

The car the suspected fake cop was in is a newer-model silver Lincoln. It had an orange-colored plate with the letters 'REP' and '44' as the last two digits on it.

Police say the fake officer is between 35 and 40 years old and stands around 6 feet tall. He's got a long, narrow face with sunken cheeks.

If you can help Largo police find out who this guy is, call them at 727-587-6730.
