POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office continues to perform a death investigation after a body was discovered near an orange grove south of Ft. Meade.
The body was found on Old Bowling Green Rd. west of US Hwy 17 around 2 p.m. Monday.
According to detectives, the body has been identified as 47-year-old John Bowling, who is known to be around the Winter Haven area often. The death is being currently investigated as a homicide and an autopsy is scheduled Tuesday for the cause of death.
A recent address could not be found for Bowling and detectives believe he was homeless after talking to some of his acquaintances.
