NORTH PORT, Fla. -- North Port Police are looking for who’s responsible for shooting up cars with a BB gun.

Several cars were damaged over the past week off Tropicaire Boulevard and Ponce De Leon Boulevard. Police say a BB gun was used to shoot at parked cars and windshields.

While no one was inside the car at the time, there was substantial damage done ranging from 200 to more than one thousand dollars.

“North Port is a working community. For someone to go in, get 600 dollars in repairs to a vehicle, take time away from work to get it fixed, and the cost to have it done,” said Joh Taylor, a spokesperson with the North Port Police Department.

Police have asked homeowners and businesses in the area to check their security cameras. While a BB gun is not considered a weapon, it does carry a felony charge of criminal mischief.
