SARASOTA, Fla. -- Welcome to the team, K-9 Officer Bobbi!

Through a donation from Boar's Head, the Sarasota Police Department was able to purchase the K-9, supplies and training for her handler, Officer Adam Arena, according to a news release.

Bobbi is a 2-year-old German Shepard from Slovakia, who was trained in finding explosive devices through odor alone. She'll be assigned to the night shift and is one of four K-9s at the department, the release states.

"Bobbi never wants to stop working," Arena said. "She’s a fun, playful, loving dog with a second to none high energy drive to keep the City of Sarasota a safe place to live, work and play."

Boar's Head in the release said they're proud to call Sarasota home.

"We recognize the vital role the Sarasota Police Department K9 Unit plays in protecting our police force and our local area," spokeswomen Elizabeth Ward said. "We’re honored to be able to sponsor K9 Bobbi and look forward to the tremendous service she will provide Sarasota."
