LARGO, Fla. -- Police are working to quickly pull a semi- truck off the edge of a Largo canal and keep fuel from spilling into the water.

Indian Rocks Road is closed at Adrian Avenue as crews try to figure out the best way to move the semi that's dangling over a canal that leads out to the intracoastal waterway.

According to the District Fire Chief of Largo Dean Chester, the danger lies with the high voltage power lines just above the semi, making it challenging to pull the truck out. They estimate about 20 gallons of oil flowing into the water.

Largo Police say that the driver did exhibit signs of possible intoxication and is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
