A Town N' Country home was severely damaged by fire Wednesday afternoon, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue reported.
The fire at 6403 Cresthill Drive started as a grass fire but spread to the home and a backyard shed. There were six adults and one child at the home at the time, but they were able to get out safely.
There were four animals -- two dogs and two cats -- in the home when the fire broke out, but firefighters were able to rescue them. One of the cats was unresponsive, but a firefighter was able to revive it with the use of a special oxygen mask.
A neighboring home suffered damage to its siding, but fire crews were able to keep the flames from spreading to nearby homes.
The backyard shed was destroyed, and the home suffered major damage, Fire Rescue said. The residents are being helped by the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
