HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- A vehicle was parked in the roadway, partially obstructing the railroad tracks located just east of Oak Street around 10 a.m. on Wednesday. A train was unable to stop and crashed into the left side of the vehicle.
The vehicle had previously been involved in a crash with another vehicle, disabling it on the roadway. There were no serious injuries reported.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a worker had attempted to call dispatch to notify other CSX trains to avoid the area following the crash. Workers attempted to radio the conductor of the train but were unable to make contact before the crash occurred.
The cause of the crash and the reason the train was in the area after being notified of the traffic crash is currently being investigated.
