Pasco County sheriff’s deputies said they have arrested a man after he allegedly shot a man in the thigh at a Zephyrhills home.

Deputies say Johnaton Ramdath, 24, of Dade City, showed up at a home at 4800 block of Huron Street, about 12:30 a.m. Friday, attempting to see a 16-year-old girl who lives here. The victim, a 51-year-old man who is the father of the 16-year-old, told the suspect to leave.

The victim said Ramdath told him he was going to kill him, then shot the victim in the thigh.

The victim was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa as a trauma alert.

During the investigation, Ramdath called law enforcement and wanted to talk about the incident. Patrol deputies found him and took him into custody.

Deputies said Ramdath told them he did not mean to shoot the victim and he was aiming at the ground. The firearm was located and placed into evidence.

The suspect was arrested for attempted murder and booked into the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.
