Bradenton police said they have arrested a pet owner who hung up a puppy and beat her for chewing a shoe.
On Monday, an investigation showed Carleau Mesidor, 39, had hung up a 3-month-old puppy named Zoey by her neck with a lanyard after the dog had chewed one of his shoes, police said.
While the puppy was strung up, Mesidor punched the dog in the head several times, police said.
Zoey was taken to a veterinarian, where it was found she suffered an orbital fracture as well as other injuries.
Mesidor has been charged with felony aggravated animal abuse.
Two other dogs were seized along with Zoey. The other dogs are being evaluated.
