TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A bill that would allow police to pull drivers over for texting and driving in Florida has stalled in a Senate committee.
State Sen. Rob Bradley, R-Fleming Island, serves as the head of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Bradley has refused to give Senate Bill 90 a hearing. SB90 has sat in his committee since Jan. 25, 2018.
Bradley has cited concerns the bill would allow police to view people's cellphones and could lead to racial profiling.
Texting while driving is illegal in Florida, but police can't pull you over for it. Police can only ticket drivers if they pull them over for another reason.
