ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A brazen strong arm daytime robbery of a 7-11 convenience store Monday in St. Petersburg was caught on video as the suspect lunged over a counter to grab a cash register drawer.

The robbery took place just before 4:00 p.m. at the 7-11 at 6201 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. North on November 21 when a suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and the drawer itself.

In the video released Tuesday by St. Petersburg Police, a man with a long piece of dark fabric covering his head is seen pacing near the counter as one customer wraps up a transaction.

The suspect then jumps over the counter to grab the drawer from the 7-11 clerk. The shock of the robbery initially scares the clerk, but she attempts to fight back to close the register. A second clerk tries in vain to pull the suspect away from the counter. The suspect kicked at the woman overpowers the counter clerk and pulls out the drawer, spilling change over the counter and floor.

The man's face is seen in the final frames as he runs out of the store with both hands on the cash drawer.
