BRADENTON, Fla. -- A man was arrested today after shots were fired during a bank robbery in Bradenton.
Customers were inside the Florida Central Credit Union on 701 9th St. when the robbery happened about 3:55 p.m.
Police said the suspect walked into the bank, armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Once inside, he fired two shots into the ceiling. No one was injured.
He then jumped the counter, took cash and fled in a dark-color Nissan Altima, police said.
About a half-hour later, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office received a call about a person acting erratically in the 2600 block of 33rd Ave. Dr. E. The deputies recognized the man's clothing as matching the robbery suspect's description.
The suspect, Julian Jimenez, 18, of Bradenton, was arrested, and he was found to be carrying a large amount of cash and a 9 mm handgun, police said.
He has been charged with armed robbery.
