SUV catches fire on I-275 near Bearss Avenue in Tampa

Firefighters have extinguished an SUV fire on the shoulder of the southbound lanes of I-275 just north of Bearss Avenue.

TAMPA, Fla. – An SUV caught fire Tuesday morning on the side of Interstate 275 in Tampa.

It happened around 6:38 a.m. Tuesday on the shoulder of the southbound lanes just north of Bearss Avenue.

The 44-year-old man driving the 2006 Chrysler four-door SUV was not injured, according to Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Steve Gaskins.

Firefighters have put out the flames.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesperson Eric Sidel said there are no reports of any other injuries.

Crews cleared the roads by 7:26 a.m. Tuesday, according to Gaskins.
