Two puppies died Monday afternoon when fire broke out in a mobile home, Tampa Fire Rescue said.
Crews were called to a mobile home park at 4801 E. Hillsborough Ave about 3:25 p.m., where they found heavy smoke coming from the south end of the single-wide mobile home.
Firefighters entered the home to fight the fire and found two puppies overcome by smoke. Paramedics made attempts to revive the dogs using special oxygen masks and chest compressions but were unsuccessful.
No residents were home at the time and there were no other injuries.
An investigator from the fire marshal's office is on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
The fire was under control by 3:45.
