Firestone Grand Prix 2018: What you need to know

The 2018 Firestone Grand Prix in St. Petersburg runs from March 9-11.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The 2018 Firestone Grand Prix is this weekend in downtown St. Petersburg.

The IndyCar event runs from Friday through Sunday.

The 14-turn, 1.8-mile racing circuit incorporates downtown streets from Pioneer Park to part of the runway at Albert Whitted Airport.

Tickets are available on the Grand Prix's website or by calling 1(877)725-8849. Single-day tickets start $20. Three-day tickets are also available.

Race organizers estimate about 100,000 people attend the three-day event.

ABC will broadcast the race at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Road Closures for Race Weekend:

  • Beach Drive from Central Avenue to First Avenue South
  • First Street from First Avenue South to Fifth Avenue South
  • Albert Whitted Park, motorized and pedestrian traffic

Roads with Limited Access:

  • Second Avenue South from First Street to Second Street South
  • First Street South from Fifth Avenue South to Eighth Avenue South
  • Sixth Avenue South from Second Street to First Street

Parking

City parking garages cost $5 Friday. They cost $15 on Saturday and Sunday.

Private lots, garages and on-street parking are also available.

  • South Core: Enter from the north side of First Avenue S. between Second and First Streets
  • MidCore/Sundial Garage: Enter from Second Street between First and Second Avenues North

There is also a park-and-ride shuttle from Tropicana Field. It runs from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. A shuttle service takes people from Tropicana Field to the race course. Parking at Tropicana Field costs $10.

There are two entry gates to the race course. Both offer wheelchair access.

  • Gate 1: First Avenue South and First Street South
    • Wheelchair access
    • Ticket booth
  • Gate 5: Fifth Avenue South and Second Street South
    • Wheelchair access
    • Ticket booth
    • Will call

Taxi Stands

There are two taxi stand locations:

  1. Southwest Stand: Third Street South and Fifth Avenue South
  2. Southeast Stand: Second Street South and Fourth Avenue South
