TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick on Thursday.

Fitzpatrick, 35, signed a one-year deal with the team.

The veteran quarterback is expected backup starter Jameis Winston next season.

Ftizpatrick went 2-1 as a starter last season in place of Winston, who missed three games with a shoulder injury.

The NFL is investigating Winston for allegations he groped a female Uber driver in March 2016. Winston has denied the allegations.

If the league finds Winston violated its personal conduct policy, he could face a suspension.

Tampa Bay also has quarterback Ryan Griffin under contract next season.
