A male motorcyclist was killed Friday night in a crash with a vehicle on U.S. Hwy. 19 in Pinellas Park.

Update: The motorcycle was a 2016 Yamaha R1 and the motorcyclist has been identified as 28-year-old Lewis Reed. The crash occurred after witnesses reported that the motorcyclist had been recklessly driving, performing tricks on the motorcycle and reaching speeds over 100 MPH.

The driver of the second vehicle, now being identified as 41-year-old Osivette Brito, was performing a U-turn while the motorcyclist was passing other vehicles on the shoulder, causing the motorcyclist to crash into the rear of the car.

Reed was confirmed dead at the scene. No criminal charges have been filed yet. Brito may face pending charges for driving on a suspended NY state license, however.

According to police, the crash occurred around 9 p.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 in the 8500 block. The male driver of the vehicle was uninjured, while a female passenger in the vehicle was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
