ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The SunPass website is causing headaches for people trying to log on. The site was down all last week for maintenance, but when customers tried to log back on this week, it still didn't work.

“We anticipated a high volume of customers trying to access the system once it came back online; and although the increased demand was anticipated, it was higher than expected,” SunPass said in an email to customers.

Some customers tell us when they tried to log on to the SunPass.com, all they saw was a blank white page in their web browser. Others said they could log on, but the site was moving incredibly slowly.

During the week of website maintenance starting June 5, SunPass told customers to make sure their accounts had enough money on them, because they wouldn’t be able to access them for several days.

However, when they tried to log back on Monday, when the scheduled maintenance was supposed to be over, the site still didn’t work. The problems continued at least through Wednesday evening. That left customers uncertain whether they had money on their accounts.

“Please know that we are working diligently to resolve this as quickly as possible and that our goal is to provide SunPass customers with the best possible service in every interaction with our people and our systems,” the SunPass statement said.
