St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport sees record number of passengers in March

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport announced Friday it had a record number of passengers last month.

Some 237,021 passengers traveled through the PIE in March, according to data provided by the airport.

March typically marks the largest month each year for the airport as people travel to Florida for spring break.

The number of passengers traveling through PIE in March has grown each year since 2010.

In 2017, some 2,055,269 passengers traveled through PIE. It marked the first time the airport surpassed 2 million passengers in a year since the airport began keeping track of the data in 2004.

The number of passengers traveling through PIE has grown each year since 2011.

Taking the average number of passengers through three months this year, St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is on pace to break the record number of passengers it saw in 2017.
