Happy weekend. I'm meteorologist Kate Wentzel and I'm tracking high levels of heat and humidity for the weekend with some scattered storms too.

For tonight; expect some scattered showers and a few storms through 11 p.m. Most of the activity will stay just to the east of the beaches, with the exception of Sarasota and Manatee Counties where coastal storms are more likely.

Skies will be mostly sunny Saturday morning with wake-up temps in the upper 70's. High temps will continue in the low to mid 90's and feel like temps in the upper 90's to the low 100's. Please be careful if you are spending extended periods of time outside and make sure to stay hydrated.

Afternoon and early evening storms will be in the forecast for the weekend, but we do not expect any "washout" days through the extended forecast. Rain chances will be around 40% over the weekend. Those rain chances will be slightly higher east of I-75 and south of the I-4 corridor.
