• Debris pickup may not occur on your normal collection day; since it will be collected by a vendor other than waste management. We have been getting questions on plans for collecting storm debris at area homes. These are the plans that have been announced so far.
Hardee County’ pickup of Hurricane Irma debris is anticipated to begin as early as Monday. Residents should get as much storm debris to the curb this weekend. It is our hope that the debris haulers can pick up the majority of the storm debris on the first “pass” through the County. Vegetative debris should be kept separate from construction type debris.
Jill Newman, Emergency Management Director is asking residents with debris that needs to be collected to be patient with the collection process and follow instructions for how and where to place their debris. Residents of impacted areas are asked to place any storm-generated debris on public right-of-way for collection if they are safely able to do so. The public right-of-way is the area of residential property that extends from the street to the
sidewalk, ditch, utility pole, or easement.
Residents are urged to separate the debris as follows:
- Construction and demolition debris (damaged components of buildings
- and structures such as lumber and wood, wall board, glass, metal, roofing
- materials, tile, furnishings, and fixtures)
- Household hazardous waste (materials that are ignitable, reactive, toxic or corrosive such as paints, cleaners, pesticides, etc)
- White goods (refrigerators, freezers, air conditions, heat pumps, ovens, ranges, washing machines, clothes dryers, and water heaters)
- Electronic waste (computers, televisions, office electronic equipment, etc.) Vegetative debris (tree branches/limbs, other leafy material.
- Stumps DO NOT move stumps to right-of-way from private property.
Hernando County Emergency Management has coordinated with the Solid Waste Department to begin collecting debris caused from Hurricane Irma. Debris removal pick-ups will start on Monday, Sept. 18. There will be two sweeps performed throughout the County which could take a few weeks to complete. Residents must separate vegetative debris (tree limbs, brush, etc) from other construction/demolition debris and place in front of their property along the roadway. Do not place debris in the roadway, in front of mail boxes or fire hydrants.
Due to the extent of storm debris created from Hurricane Irma, contracted yard
debris collection will start on Monday, Sept. 18, with no additional charge to
residents. Residents should have yard waste placed in piles along the right of
way for collection by Monday, Sept. 18. Yard waste debris in New Tampa will be
handled by City of Tampa.
Residents cleaning up their yards can start disposing of vegetative storm debris as yard waste collections begin in Hillsborough County. Contracted yard debris collection will start on Monday. Residents should have yard waste placed in piles along the right of way for collection by Monday. Do not block access to storm water drains, utility boxes, or roadways.
As storm debris is being collected, the trucks will be working systematically throughout neighborhoods. The trucks may have to make several passes through the neighborhoods over the next several weeks due to the extent of storm damage, and to ensure the removal of all storm debris put out by residents.
County yard waste facilities are operating under extended hours, Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Residents must show a valid Florida driver's license to receive free yard waste disposal. Yard waste facilities open are:

Tampa: The City of Tampa Solid Waste and Environmental Program Management Department is prepared to begin removing storm debris. In response to the additional waste generated as a result of Hurricane Irma, the Department has activated its debris management contractor, Ceres Environmental, to focus exclusively on storm debris. Citywide storm debris collection service will be provided seven days a week 7 am to 7 p.m. beginning Thursday and running through Oct. 27. Residents should place items curbside as soon as they can safely do so following the guidelines below:
- Separate debris into the following categories; vegetative (un-bagged), construction and demolition, appliances and white goods (i.e. refrigerators, washers, etc.), and electronics
- Safety remains a priority, please be sure that debris is clear of any electrical lines, water meters, storm drains, drainage ditches, mail boxes and fire hydrants.
- Crews cannot enter private property without an approved right of entry agreement.
While storm debris is being accepted at the McKay Bay Disposal Facility, residents are encouraged to wait for the storm debris collection service, and avoid the inconvenience and long wait times.
Storm debris collection will begin on Tuesday for residents in unincorporated areas.
All storm-related debris must be properly separated to be picked up. Mixed piles will be considered contaminated and left at the curb.
• Yard waste (trees, limbs, brush, etc.) does not need to be bundled and should be placed at the curb. Leaves should be in a container or bagged for collection.
• White goods (appliances, such as refrigerators and freezers) should be emptied before being placed at the curb. Spoiled contents should be placed in the garbage for pickup.
• Construction and debris (C&D) materials such as metal awnings, roofing, drywall, carpet and lumber, should be in a separate pile.
No other special preparations of the debris are required except to avoid obstructions around piles such as power lines, mailboxes, trees, etc. Very large claw trucks will be collecting the debris and need to have safe access to the material.
Over the next several weeks debris contractors will be working with several crews throughout the collection area. Please know that these are very large trucks and may slow traffic down on streets during the collection process. Take care and watch carefully for workers in these areas.

Pasco County Utilities, Solid Waste and Resource Recovery Department will begin debris removal starting the week of Monday, Sept. 18.
In preparation for the removal, Pasco County homeowners must have all debris materials brought to the curb or roadside for pickup. Residents should be aware and be careful not to block fire hydrants, mailboxes, electrical boxes or any other structures. Contractor generated debris will not be picked up. Additionally, do not bag debris and refrigerators should be empty, with the doors secured or removed.
Requests for debris pickup must be submitted to Pasco County Customer Service Center by emailing email@example.com, providing the address where the debris is located. Residents can also call customer service at 727.847.2411.

· Lumber (if NOT pressure treated)
· Particle board
· Laminated flooring
· Dry insulation (if wet, pile with construction)
· Carpet & padding
· Plaster board
· Ceramic tile

· Tree cuttings (must be no more than 5 feet in length and all branches must be bundled)
· Metal furniture
· Metal shelving
· Items that are more than 75% metal

The City of Pinellas Park has opened four brush site locations starting Thursday, Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The four locations include the following:

The City of Tarpon Springs will begin residential garbage pickup Thursday, Sept. 14. Storm debris pickup will resume Monday, Sept. 18.
Collection will begin for residents of unincorporated Pinellas on Monday.
Items picked up during curbside collection will include yard debris, and construction and demolition debris caused by the storm As Pinellas County Public Works crews finish clearing storm debris from roads, a second phase of recovery will soon begin to collect residential storm debris in unincorporated Pinellas.
Debris contractors will begin storm debris collection from rights of way on Monday, giving residents returning home over the next few days enough time to collect and place their storm debris piles in their nearest right of way.
Residents should place their debris in sorted piles at the public right-of-way for curbside collection by debris crews. Debris will be collected and taken to a temporary storage site to ultimately be recycled or disposed of.
Residents are asked to sort debris by item type and place in separate piles.
These are the specific items that can be moved to the curbside for collection:
- Building material including roof shingles and siding
- Fallen tree branches and logs
Residents are asked to take the following steps to make the debris removal process easier:
- Sort debris by type and place in separate piles
- Do not stack debris against trees, poles, fire hydrants and storm drains
- Do not place debris on sidewalks or farther back than 10-feet beyond the curb
Municipal residents can contact their municipality about the availability of debris pickup in their area. Residents who are uncertain if their property is located within unincorporated Pinellas or within a municipality, should visit this website.

The City of Venice will not be collecting recyclables until Monday, Sept. 18. Trash pickup will be begin pickup Wednesday, Sept. 13. Yard waste should be bagged, bundled or tied (if at all possible), 40 pound weight limit, with nothing longer than 4 feet (please cut to size). Please separate yard waste, aluminum, roofing materials, etc. into separate piles. Solid Waste is working to schedule a bulk yard waste pickup for customers.
A reminder that sandbags are a homeowner's responsibility and Solid Waste will NOT be picking them up.
