I became part of the 10 News team in July 2006 as a sports backpack journalist.
I am an avid sports fan and writer, so I merged my two favorite topics into one with a career in television. Through a combined role as reporter and photographer, I'm able to craft the story that I envision from the onset. I pride myself in finding compelling stories, often times thanks to viewers like you, and bringing them to our audience in the Tampa Bay area.
Before joining WTSP, I worked as a sports photographer and reporter at WESH in Orlando, Florida. Before that were stops at WCTV in Tallahassee, Florida; WPTY in Memphis, Tennessee, and KTRE in Lufkin, Texas.
I've been blessed to have countless memorable trips but a few highlights include covering my alma mater, UCF, in the school's first bowl game in Hawaii. I was also fortunate to see Oklahoma play Florida in the BCS national championship. I've also covered numerous Daytona 500's and three Super Bowls, but college and high school sports are my favorite.
After growing up in Oklahoma, my family moved to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida in 1989, so I'm now a Floridian. With degrees from UCF (2000) and FSU (2005), I'm working my way through the state educational system.
Outside of work, my favorite activity is anything I can do with my wife, Beth. We spoil our pets, Kenzie (a black lab) and Riley (an orange and white cat). We enjoy traveling, sports, movies, and, anything else that's fun.
If you have a story idea that you think would be interesting to Tampa Bay area viewers, please let me know at travis@wtsp.com.
