Bobby Deskins, Meteorologist

 Hi there, I'm meteorologist Bobby Deskins.  I came to 10 Connects in January 2009 from eastern North Carolina.  That's where I spent the last six years tracking storms and plenty of hurricanes along the Carolina coast.  I am originally from Maryland, but also lived in southern California for five years. I have seen a large variety of weather ranging from tornadoes to hurricanes to earthquakes and am now excited to be forecasting the weather here in sunny and warm Florida.

I have an Associates degree in Engineering Technology from the College of Southern Maryland, a Bachelor's degree in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a Bachelor's degree in Geosciences from Mississippi State University and I completed the Broadcast Meteorology program at Mississippi State University.  I also have the coveted Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society and am a member of the National Weather Association. I have also won an Associated Press award for Best Weathercast.

I'm married to my beautiful wife Debbie and although we don't have any kids yet, we do have two cats. In my spare time you can find me at the beach searching for waves to surf.  I like surfing, fishing, boating, scuba diving and just about every other water sport.  I also soloed a plane at the age of 16 and have even ridden a real live bull in a rodeo - twice!

It sounds cliché, but weather really is my passion.  Now at 10 Connects I get the opportunity to share that passion on air, online and in your neighborhood. I visit numerous schools every year and have hosted events ranging from neighborhood watch programs to black tie affairs. I look forward to visiting your community soon.  Enjoy the weather!
