Aisha Tyler leaving 'The Talk' after 6 years

There's going to be an opening at the table on CBS afternoon chatfest The Talk, come August. That's when actress Aisha Tyler says she'll depart the show after six seasons.

Tyler came aboard in 2011 along with comedian Sheryl Underwood. The rest of the lineup is comprised of Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert and Sharon Osborne, who have all been there since the show debuted in October 2010.

The actress got a little verklempt Thursday as she made her announcement.

"I have had an amazing six years with you guys," she told her colleagues. "We’ve had babies and weddings, and you know good things have happened, and you know I went through the biggest breakup of my life with you. I could not have done with this without you. I’ll never be able to thank you guys enough."

In a statement, Angelica McDaniel, the head of daytime and syndicated programming at CBS, called Tyler's decision "a bittersweet moment" and noted that, "throughout her six seasons, she has made incredible contributions and shared personal moments, making our viewers, cast and crew all laugh, cry and think, as a result of her signature wit, intelligence and openness."

Tyler will remain part of the cast of FBI procedural Criminal Minds, where she became a series regular this past season.  It returns for its 13th season in late September. She also voices the role of Lana on FXX's animated spy comedy Archer and hosts CW's revival of the improv comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway?
