(USA Today) Holy square jaw, Batman! Ben Affleck's got a sweet new ride and a neato superhero costume.
On Tuesday, director Zack Snyder tweeted out the first peek of Affleck looking buff in his Dark Knight armor, cape and cowl from the set of his follow-up toMan of Steel currently filming in Detroit. The untitled sequel features Affleck's debut as Batman — following the heroic footsteps ofChristian Bale, Michael Keaton and George Clooney — opposite a returning Henry Cavill as Superman.
Of note about Affleck's Bat-suit: less-pointy ears on the cowl than previous versions, a design that is more a tad more noir, and a Bat-symbol that takes up a good portion of Affleck's chest. (And for those fans of some 5 o'clock shadow, the actor's take onBruce Wayne doesn't seem to be a big fan of regular shaving.)
Snyder first teased out a picture of the Dark Knight's new vehicle — hidden under a tarp — via Twitter on Monday.
Affleck's hot rod is the latest Batmobile to hit the big screen and looks like a sportier, sleeker version of the most recent edition, the military-style Tumbler from Christopher Nolan's recent Dark Knight trilogy.
The upcoming superhero film is slated to arrive in theaters May 6, 2016, and also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Superman baddie Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Batman's butler Alfred Pennyworth and Ray Fisher as high-tech hero Cyborg.
