(WXIA) -- You've seen video games that allow you to play soldier, space ranger, vigilante, superhero, hobbit, dragon and pirate. But now, you can be a goat. That's right, a goat.
Goat Simulator is being officially released on April 1 to gamers across the Internet.
The game allows players to take on the role of a tongue-wagging goat, head-butting people, objects and everything else in sight.
Goat Simulator is a tongue-in-cheek game that started life as a fictional game trailer – mostly as an in-joke for fans of developer Coffee Stain Studios.
The game is very crude, but uproariously funny, as evidenced by the game's trailer.
On the official site for the game, Coffee Stain Studios posts a disclaimer:
Goat Simulator is a small, broken and stupid game. It was made in a couple of weeks so don't expect a game in the size and scope of GTA with goats. In fact, you're better off not expecting anything at all actually. To be completely honest, it would be best if you'd spend your $10 on a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe a real-life goat.
There are a number of Easter Eggs for fans in the game, which includes a jetpack and a UFO.
Over the weekend, a number of fans were granted early access to the game, and a number of them streamed their gameplay on the Twitch TV online gaming network to the delight of fans, many of whom said they were more than ready to download the game themselves.
The game is, by Coffee Stain Studios' own admission, not for kids, as it does have some more horror-based elements in the game.
Goat Simulator is available beginning April 1 for Windows-based PCs, and is available for download on April 1 on the STEAM online-based gaming platform for $10.
