Hurricane Hermine heroes in studio

Hurricane Hermine hit Pasco County hard and two local heroes stepped up and helped rescue stranded neighbors.

Joe Vadalis and Erik Papapanos did not know what they were in for when they arrived at what used to be a street but now had become a river of rip currents, due to the flooding of the Anclote River during Hurricane Hermine.

The two grew up near the river and were extremely familiar with the flooding history and the marine skills needed, not to panic during this precarious time.

On this particular day, two normal guys put their Jon Boat in the water and after rescuing stranded neighbors, they became heroes.

You can find the actual footage of their rescue mission on our Great Day TB live Facebook page.
